Trust & safety

Hiring you can trust

How we check ski schools and instructors, how to spot a fake job, and what happens when you report something.

Verified ski schools

The blue tick next to a school’s name means we have checked that it is a real, licensed business — not just someone with an email address.

  1. Licence or registrationThe school uploads its ski school licence or business registration. In Austria, for example, every ski school needs a licence from its province. Only our verification team can open the document.
  2. Phone checkWe call the number shown on the licence or in the public company register — not only the number the school typed in — to confirm the account really belongs to them.
  3. BadgeWhen both checks match, the verified badge appears on the school’s profile, its adverts and its messages to you.

A school without the badge is not necessarily a problem — it may still be waiting for its check. Take extra care, and use the “Verified only” filter in the school directory if you prefer.

Verified qualifications

Instructors can upload their certificates — BASI, PSIA-AASI, CSIA, CASI, NZSIA, APSI, Austrian Landesskilehrer or Staatlich geprüft, IFMGA and others.

Verified

We have compared the certificate with the name and level on the profile. The qualification shows a blue tick on the profile, in search results and in the hiring pipeline.

Not verified yet

The qualification is shown as the instructor entered it. Ask to see the certificate before you make an offer.

Schools: a verified badge saves time, but it does not replace your own checks. Before the season starts, check original certificates, identity and the right to work in your country, as your local law requires.

How to spot a fake job

Most schools on Snowsports Central are exactly who they say they are. These are the warning signs that something is not right.

Red flags

  • You are asked to pay a fee to be hired or to “secure” the job.
  • Someone asks for bank or card details, or copies of your passport, before an interview and a written offer.
  • You are pushed to move to WhatsApp, Telegram or private email straight away.
  • The pay is far above what similar jobs offer, or the school is vague about its name and resort.
  • You receive money and are asked to send part of it back.

Good habits

  • Keep conversations in Messages — if something goes wrong, we can see what happened and help.
  • Look for the verified badge, read the school’s reviews from instructors it has hired, and check its profile.
  • Meet on a video interview before you agree to anything.
  • Get pay, dates, housing and hours in writing — an offer sent through Snowsports Central sets them out clearly.
  • If it feels wrong, stop and report it. You will never be penalised for a report made in good faith.

Report a problem

Report a conversation straight from Messages, or anything else — an advert, a profile, a review — through the contact form. Reports are confidential: the other person is not told who reported them.

From a conversation

Open the conversation, press the ⋯ menu and choose Report. Pick a reason — a suspicious job, abusive messages, a request for money or financial details, or something else.

Block

In the same menu you can block someone. They can no longer message you, and you can unblock them later if you change your mind.

Anything else

Use the contact form and choose “Trust and safety concern”. Include links to the advert or profile so we can act quickly.

Contact the safety team →

We read every report. Depending on what we find, we can warn the person, remove an advert or a review, remove a verified badge, or close the account.

If you are in immediate danger, call the emergency services — 112 works in every EU country and in Switzerland.

Your data

Instructor profiles hold personal information, so we keep control in your hands.

Who sees your profile

Choose Public, Employers only (signed-in ski schools) or Hidden. Hidden profiles never appear in search; you can still apply to jobs.

Private documents

Certificates and licences you upload for verification can only be opened by you and our verification team. Contact details are shared with a school only when you reply to it.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data at any time, and you can delete your account from your dashboard.
